Rooibos & Green Rooibos

Rooibos grows only in the mountainous Cederberg region and surrounds, where it thrives under the hot African sun – bolstered by crystal clear streams and pure mountain air. It is found nowhere else on earth. This uniquely South African shrub has a pleasantly sweet and mildly earthy taste, with soft fruity and floral undertones and notes of vanilla and honey. Green Rooibos is the unoxidised version of Rooibos and has a pleasantly fresh, bright and grassy taste, with slight caramelisation mellowing its astringent notes. Not only does it make a deliciously refreshing herbal tea, it is also endowed with a host of health benefits.

Honeybush & Green Honeybush

Between the great mountain ranges separating the edge of the Karoo from the southern shores of Africa, there is a narrow coastal plain stretching some 250km – this territory is the home of the Honeybush plant. Like Rooibos, Honeybush has an array of health-promoting properties perfectly suited to counteract the negative impact of today’s stressful environment. It also has a delightfully distinctive taste, with prominent notes of wildflowers as well as subtle undertones of fruit and sweet spices and a lingering taste of honey.

Lemon Myrtle

Lemon myrtle's aroma has been described as that of a lemon lolly, perfumed with menthol notes. The main source of the sweet citrus scent of lemon myrtle essential oil are the natural compounds citral, citronellal and linalool. It is citral that also gives lemons, lemongrass and lemon verbena their lemony aromatic quality. The flavour profile is that of strong lemon with some sweetness and cooling on the palate, with refreshing intense citrus notes that have been described as ‘lemonier than lemon'. Lemon myrtle is commonly used to add a clean and crisp citrus-like flavour & fragrance to a wide range of culinary applications.
